Our Approach
My Approach
The most important aspect of counseling is the client/therapist relationship. We pride ourselves on our professionalism, but when you meet with us for counseling, expect to sit with authentic people with real-life experiences just like you. We bring us and our training, but most importantly, you bring you! During sessions, you are always the expert of your own life and We're not here to give advice but to help you find the best version of yourself.
One size fits all counseling is definitely a thing of the past (sorry Freud)!
Anxiety &
Depression
It's likely that we are going to use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help you reframe some of those automatic negative thoughts that we all have sometimes. Although you will find that you can control many aspects of your life, some things in life are decided for us, such as our family or origin, loss of a loved one or job, or an illness. Using Dialectical Behavior Therapy we can learn to accept the things that we cannot change and cope with the hands we are dealt.
Family of origin & Trauma
To get to where we want to go, we often need to look at where we started and the process it took to arrive at where we are now. To help our clients piece together and understand their story, we use Psychodynamic approach. Often exploring issues and bringing them to light helps us make necessary adjustments, avoid our triggers and create new habits.

Relationships
In family or couple's counseling we take a structural approach that helps couples identify boundaries and communicate these to their partner in a way that is loving and productive. We will talk about how we can provide feedback and respond to our partner, always turning towards one another instead of away.
LGBTQ+
Our values dictate that we will provide a judgement free zone to all clients. In counseling we can address every aspect of your identity and explore how these parts have contributed to your development, life experiences, and perspective. We provide a safe place for individuals who are contemplating parts of their identity and for those who may not always feel accepted or supported by society or those closest to them.
